Frequently asked questions
What data do you keep on me and where is it stored?
During the initial intake, I will ask you to complete a short online form containing some personal information including your address, phone number, email address and GP. This information is gathered using a secure system. I will also write some brief notes after each appointment which are saved on my password protected laptop.
Would you ever share my information with other people?
All of the information discussed in sessions will be confidential except where I believe that there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or others. In this case I reserve the right to inform outside agencies as appropriate, but if possible I will discuss this with you first. This is a duty of care required by all psychologists.
Clinical Psychologists are required to attend regular supervision sessions with another Clinical Psychologist in order to maintain the quality of their work. Individual issues are discussed but confidentiality is maintained i.e. personal information is kept to the minimum necessary for clinical understanding and not shared beyond the context of supervision.
